Pride on the Beach 2019 Reflections
There are so many good things about summer on Long Island, but the highlight for those of us at RMA Long Island IVF is Pride on the Beach, which is held every year in late June. And last month’s Pride celebration was worthy of a throwback post.
We are so proud to be a major sponsor of this event every year. Pride on the Beach give us a chance to educate the public on the many available LGBT family building opportunities as well as fertility preservation options in a more casual, laid-back setting. It gives us a chance to meet new people and get better acquainted with others we’ve previously met at past Pride events or LGBT educational seminars held in conjunction with our friends and partners at The LGBT Network.
Of course, our favorite part of Pride on the Beach is reuniting with the LGBT parents whose families we helped to build and seeing all of their beautiful babies. In fact, we’ve been at this so long, some of those babies are now adults.
Here are some highlights from our booth at last month’s Pride on the Beach: We had many former patients stop by-- including a couple who had a 20-year-old and a 10-year-old. We were thrilled to see lots of babies as well. A couple we had met at October’s “Building Families in the LGBT Community” seminar excitedly told us they were beginning treatment with Dr. Peña. Many patients of Dr. Brenner’s and the other doctors also came by the booth to say “Hi”. Still others wanted to discuss having more children with our help. And several women who wanted to wait a few more years before conceiving came by to discuss elective egg freezing. What a feel-good day!
There is a special sense of satisfaction that comes from immersing yourself in the community especially when the event becomes an annual tradition. The energy and excitement that comes from seeing former patients and their children, current patients who are excited about becoming parents, and meeting prospective new patients and educating them about their options for family building and fertility preservation is truly a win-win-win experience for us. We look forward to it every year.
If you haven’t met with our team yet, we offer seminars on LGBT family-building-- in conjunction with our partners at The LGBT Network-- a couple of times each year. Please follow us on social media or contact the office for information about the next seminar or to schedule an appointment with one of our physicians. Whenever you are ready, we look forward to helping you build your family.
